Q: Do you think young Hollywood is any more out of control then when you were experiencing it?

A: I think in general, society is in a different place. This sort of rabid consumerism, obsession with celebrity, obsession with fame, obsession with the right hand bag and that being newsworthy is something that simply didn't occur when I was a young actress. I feel for these young women now, being swept up in a completely different sort of movement.

When I was a young actress in my late teens and early 20s, we certainly would go out and have a good time, but it was really about being a good actress.

Now it has become about something entirely different. I shudder to think about all these magazines like Stuff and Maxim, where young women are really encouraged to sell themselves as sex objects and superstars as opposed to focusing on the craft of acting.

Q: You dated River Phoenix and you were in the Viper Room that night that he overdosed. Did you ever get into the drug scene?

A: I mean, I was certainly not headed toward rehab by any means. I had my standard experimentation in my early 20s. But I was never doing hard drugs like that.

Q: Why did you give up acting after your mother died?

A: I didn't give it up. I just took a break (laughing). You know, I had been working at that point for 10 years. After River had died, my Mom contracted lung cancer. I was by her side when she went through three years of chemo and radiation. I worked maniacally almost during that time and did a lot of work I'm really proud of.

When River died, I went straight into a movie and that's how I processed it at that point. But once my Mom passed, I just really needed to allow myself to take stock and take a break. So I did, and I stopped acting for just a little over a year. I went to therapy and allowed myself to fall apart for a little while.

I just was devastated. My mother and I were extremely close and I really needed to allow myself that time.

Q: Did it alter your perspective in a permanent way?

A: How can it not? I think when you lose people who are close to you, you begin to re-examine what's important in life and what isn't. It is so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day, and I still do. There was a time when I was so very present to everything. I still have to remind myself.

I think it changed me in some really wonderful ways. I became much closer to my siblings who are from my father's second marriage. Friendships become that much more important. The family that you have is what's really precious.

Q: Are you in a relationship now?

A: Nope. I'm single.

Q: The movie is about organ donation and cell memory. Do you believe in that sort of thing?

A: Who's to say? There certainly are documented experiences of people who have had memory or emotions that don't necessarily belong to them. I believe that there's lots more to things in general than we tend to want to give credence to.

Q: Are you an organ donor? Do you believe in organ donation?

A: I have been, on my driver's license, before. I don't in fact know if I am now. I have to look into that because I do believe in it because once we're gone, we're gone.

Q: Did I read you are a florist now?

A: Well, I started a floral company called Succulent. So yes. It happened because I was literally just playing with succulent plants and fell in love with this variety of succulent. They are hard to kill, which is great for me because I don't have a green thumb, unlike my mother and grandmother who were prolific gardeners.

So I thought last year, why not start a company that delivers floral arrangements that live instead of die? You know? Especially in this town, people spend so much money sending flowers that are dead in four or five days. It's a great creative outlet for me.

cmq a prescindere dalle sue parole..io una cosa la metterei in rilievo..quando la giornalista le chiede riguardo alla morte della madre e di river..lei inizia a risp cn uan specie di risata soffocata..
ora se lei avesse avuto questa risata in riferimento ad una domanda supponiamo fatta solo su river..probabilm anche io avrei pensato..questa è scema!...
ma siccome la domanda riguarda anche la morte della madre..c'ho riflettuto di più..
e io ho avuto la sensazione che questa samantha mathis abbia un suo modo di porsi ai gironalisti riguardo certi fatti dolorosi della sua vita in modo molto schivo e freddo!!
ecco perchè io più passa il tempo più continuo a convincermi del fatto ke lei nn sia cosi distaccata come in realtà appare..anche epr quanto riguarda river..anzi..questa intervista in cui parla della madre..che tra la'ltro so essere la persona ke lei più ha amato in tt la sua vita..e ne parla in modo cosi freddo e quasi ironico..mi fa capire molte più cose di lei..
io la sto davvero rivalutando..a prescindere intendo da river e dalla notte del viper ovviamente..la sto rivalutando dal punto di vista di sentimenti che lei provasse davvero per river quando stavano insieme!

Ma la ragazza si è fatta un pò di lifting?Non sembra neanche più lei nella foto messa da Marta nell'intervista...Cmq io credo che è ovvio che abbia sofferto,e ci sn xsone che non lo esternano affatto,lei potrebbe essere una di quelle,ma la storia con Rio la continuo a vedere come punto di trampolino di una carriera in declino,non voglio dire che la loro storia da parte di lei fosse solo opportunismo ma a me quella frase che disse non mi scende ancora giù,se mi dimostrate il contrario io sono ben pronta a cambiare idea....

cmq io credo che lui fosse molto innamorato di lei..nel senso che credo che in lei lui avesse visto qualcosa che neanche in suz solgot aveva trovato..perkè mentre quando stava cn suz continuava a sentire martha..da quando si mise assieme a samantha so ke i rapporti cn martha..per quanto sempre ottimi..un pò scemarono..ricordo che martha disse che lei lo chiamava e lui spesso nn la rikiamava nell'ultimo periodo..cosa ke nn credo facesse invece prima!..secondo me lui si era preso proprio una bella sbandata..e samantha..beh io stento a credere che nn si possa arrivare ad innamorarsi di qualcuno come river..cioè lui era meraviglioso..credo nn ci si potesse nn innamorare di lui(ma vabbè io sono di parte ahah)..quindi magari lei si era pure innamorata ..però forse in lui vedeva più un modello un'ispirazione anche e sopratt per la sua professione..cred fosse quello ke l'attirasse ..nn vuole essere una critica..a volte ci innamoriamo anche per la genialità di una persona e nn solo per la sua anima ed il suo cuore..capita..in fondo penso fosse più quello che lei provasse per lui.. che quella passione travolgente che invece probabilm esisteva tra lui e suzanne..

cmq visto ke fra un pò è il compleanno di river..posto un video ke è stato fatto per lui e samantha..perciò decido di dimeticare per un attimo antipatie e simpatie..e lo posto..perkè lui l'amava e per oggi..beh va bene cosi..eheh..

noo nn è una pelliccia vera!!è sintetica al 100 %..lo so eprkè PURTROPPO mia nonna ne possiede più di una..e quelle vere..sono molto più morbide e omogenee anche solo a vederle nn solo al tatto..scusate la descrizione dettagliata so ke è crudele perkè stiamo parlando di un povero animaletto..ma è cosi..
questa nn è vera..per fortuna!!
ci mancava solo ke indossase pellicce vere...è persino vegetariana...spero nn lo sia solo per un fatto alimentare ma anche per principio!!

scrivo qualcosa sulla vita personale di questa donna..cosi la conosciamo tutti un pò meglio ke dite..
Allora Samantha Mathis(chiamata dagli amici Sammy) nasce a New York il 12 maggio del 1970.
Sua madre e sua nonna erano entrambe attrici.
All'età di 3 anni i suoi genitori divorziarono e lei crebbe con la madre..che influenzò,in quanto attrice, le sue scelte nella sua carriera professionale.
Ebbe alcuni fidanzati famosi..tra cui Christian Slater..River..e in seguito è uscita per un pò con Noah Wyle, che interpreta John Carter in E.R.
Ora so che è single,l'ha detto qualche mese fa al letterman show.
Ha un fratellastro e una sorellastra entrambi attori.
Sua madre è morta nel 1996,era malata da anni di cancro.
E' vegetariana da quando aveva 18 anni
La sua migliore amica è Sandra Bullock.
Parla perfettamente il tedesco da quando è bambina visto che ha anche origni austriache.
Ha lanciato recentemente una nuova linea on-line di design floreale(non so esattamente in cosa consista,ma penso sia tipo arredamento per giardini o allestimento di vetrine..nn so bene)..che cmq ha riscosso molto successo..insieme al designer e amico Ryann Davis.
E il 5 %del guadagno lo danno alla Green Coast Foundation.
Attualmente gira qualche film ma lavora anche a brodway.

inizia con peter bogdanovitch che chiama samantha al tel perche ha appena appreso cosa è successo a river!

By the time I got home, it was getting late, but I called Sam. She sounded numb. It had all happened so fast, she said. She'd suspected River had taken some drugs earlier in the evening but hadn't been sure of it. They hadn't planned to hang out at the Viper Room - only to go by, say hello, drop off Joaquin and Rain, and then go back to her house. But River had brought his guitar, knowing some friends were jamming there, and had really wanted to play with them. Reluctantly, Sam said, she'd yielded.
After a while, she saw River with a pal of his who he had told her was a junkie, and a bouncer was opening a side door for them. She didn't know if they were being pushed out or going out of their own accord. Evidently, the junkie had given River some stuff that didn't mix with what he might have already taken. River complained that he wasn't feeling well, but his friend told him he was just being paranoid. Worried, Sam followed them out to the sidewalk to keep an eye on them, lit a cigarette, and walked ten feet away to give them privacy. When she turned around, River had started going into convulsions, then he dropped to the sidewalk. His friend said he was fine, to just leave him alone. Knowing that couldn't be true, Sam said, and that something was terribly wrong, she tried to get River on his feet, but he seemed to have passed out. She ran into the club to get Joaquin and Rain. Joaquin called 911 while Rain and Sam tried to help River. Then Joaquin and Rain both attempted unsuccessfully to revive River. By the time the paramedics got there, he had gone into cardiac arrest. Though they tried repeatedly to revive him, it was too late. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Sam said that Joaquin and his sisters were overcome with grief, and that Heart was being incredibly strong, holding everybody together. How she did it, Sam said, she didn't know. We spoke a little while longer, me trying to say something about the indestructibility of the spirit. I promised that first thing in the morning, I would come over to the house where everyone was staying.
When I arrived, some friends were in the kitchen making sandwiches. The kids looked devastated. Heart, as Sam had said, was amazingly in control. We embraced for a long moment. She said her main concern right now was helping the other children through this - they were all devoted to River, worshipful - and it was so terrible for them that she couldn't really show how she felt.
Sam and I spoke for a while, alone. She cried. She and River had been talking a lot, she said, looking forward to seeing each other. He had been totally clean, she said. The minute he got to L.A., the bad influences surfaced, the temptations reached out. Because he had been off everything for more than three months, he was far more vulnerable than if he had never stopped.
Joaquin was having a cigarette in the living room. We hadn't met before, but Joaquin said that River had spoken well of me. As he tried to speak of his brother, Joaquin broke down; recalling the terrible last moments, he began sobbing and couldn't go on. I embraced him. He held on to me and kept crying.
There was a memorial for River a few days later at the Paramount Theatre on the lot. Sidney Poitier was very eloquent and touching, as were Ethan Hawke and numerous others. On a talk show not long afterward, the host asked veteran star Tony Curtis to comment on the death of River Phoenix. I recall Curtis saying cryptically that it was "difficult to comprehend how much envy" there was in Hollywood. The remark resonates.
Samantha had many recriminations about that horrible final night, most particularly against the junkie, but Heart would hear none of it. There was nothing that could bring River's body back to life, Heart seemed to feel, and she focused entirely on the continuing life of River's spirit and on helping her children overcome the tragedy and learn to live with their brother in a different way. Her strength and selflessness were inspirational. Eventually, there were lawsuits against River's estate because his death happened during a picture. Corporate inhumanity knows no bounds.

OK Samantha dice a peter b.che tutto è successo cosi in fretta quella notte..lei era ancora sotto shock ovviamente.Lei gli disse che aveva avuto il sospetto che river avesse preso qualcosa nel pomeriggio ma nn era assolutamente sicura(visto che ricordiamoci era anche molto influenzato e debilitato..e infatti lei questo dopo lo dice!)
Disse che inizialmente nn avevano intenzione di rimanere tanto al Viper semplicemte fare un salto salutare un pò di gente portare a fare un giro joaquin e rain e tornare a casa.Ma poi river prese la chitarra perchè sapeva che degli amici suonavano li e lui voleva suonare qualcosa cn loro.
poi Samantha racconta su come sn andate le cose al viper..ma sec me nn sono andate come raccontate qui..perchè tutti ormai sappiamo che river si drogò in bagno e qui racconta che samantha lo vide uscire cn degli amici che lei sapeva bene facessero uso di droghe..per carità..magari è anche accaduto questo..forse prima ke river andasse in bagno..nn so..cmq vado alla prte in cui samantha parla cn peter sul dopo che river mori..
Samantha racconta che quando Hearth seppe della notizia nn perse il controllo..joaquin e rain erano ovviamente sotto shock ma Hearth si mantenne salda forte.Samantha disse che nn sapeva come ci riuscisse a mantenere quel controllo.Poi peter promise a samantha che sarebbe andato a trovare hearth e gli altri il giorno dopo e cosi fece..
Qui c'è un racconto di peter che abbraccia forte Hearth che mantiene sempre la sua compostezza lei dice perchè deve pensare a tenere in piedi gli altri suoi figli.
Joaquin che lui nna veva mai visto prima era seduto in una stanza a fumare e joaquin gli disse che river gli aveva parlato bene di lui..ma subito dopo scoppio a piangere,,peter lo abbracciò e lui continuò a piangere(vabbè vedete voi..)
cmq infine si dice che Samantha e Peter parlarono ancora e lei piangeva senza riuscire a fermarsi..gli diceva che lei e river parlavano molto e cercavano sempre di vedersi nell'ultimo periodo..nonostante lui fosse sempre impegnato nel suo nuovo film..lei gli disse che river era stanco e debilitato ma era ssolutamente pulito da mesi lei ne era certa..Inoltre dice che Samantha era veramente arrabbiata per quella notte.. era sopratt arrabbiata con chi avesse dato la droga a river e voleva dirlo alla conferenza della paramount ma Hearth nn volle!Disse che nessuno avrebbe riportato in vita suo figlio cmq..e che lo spirito continua avivere e voleva che i suoi figli vivessero quel tragico momento nel modo più sereno possibile etc etc..(NON MI ESPRIMO SU QUESTOARGOMENTO SAPETE ORMAI TUTTI COME LA PENSO!)
